Jinsui (Jazzy) Song

Jinsui is currently enrolled in the Master of Environmental Management program at Yale School of the Environment, with specializations in Business and Environment, and Ecosystem Management and Conservation. She is particularly interested in exploring the opportunity and suitability of market solutions for biodiversity loss through the lenses of market conditions and, importantly, socio-environmental and socioeconomic relations.

Prior to YSE, Jinsui worked as a consultant at Shan Shui Conservation Center in Beijing, where she and the team established corporate biodiversity reporting measurement, and subsequently evaluated and published the baseline biodiversity performance of listed companies in China in 2021. This report has led the cross-sector discussion of the corporate sector's biodiversity dependencies, impacts, and responsibilities in China. Jinsui’s prior experience as a senior associate in Deals Advisory at PricewaterhouseCoopers Hong Kong equipped her with abilities to analyze environmental issues through the eyes of the corporate world and vice versa.

At CBEY, Jinsui works as a student writer at the Conservation Finance Network, with primary reporting interests in nature and biodiversity financing. She loves exploring existing solutions, proposals, and theories to overturn biodiversity loss. She asks questions about local community empowerment, balanced relationship with nature, (un)locking multi-values of biodiversity, and suitable market mechanisms and financial instruments. She reports stories that are multi-layered, nuanced and conclude with more questions than answers.
